Fundraising for Walk the Walk
Story
Dear Friend,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and finding out a little more about what I'm doing in June. It involves going topless for charity.
Last year I decided to write a book about travelling Britain by the light of the full-moon. I called it Moonwalking. Research took me to walkthewalk.org and intrigue made me join the MoonWalk. Then I found out I had to powerwalk around Edinburgh in a bra at night. Then I got two male friends involved.
Then this disease crept a little closer to home.
A close friend's mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I soon remembered my best friend's mum was also diagnosed two years ago. And that's when all those scary facts and figures became quite real (1 in 9 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives).
But there's light at the end of the tunnel. Fundraising events like walkthewalk are pumping millions of pounds into cancer research. And that leads to improvements in treatment, equipment, care, and knowledge. It's down to those who do lunatic things and those who support them that more and more women (and men!) are surviving breast cancer.
