As a passionate football fan, nature lover and triathlete I have been left with no choice but to swim, cycle and run my way to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa!! Departing from Cirencester on the 1 of October I will have 8 adventure filled months to cycle 19,000 kilometres across 2 continents and 21 countries, swim 20 kilometres across the Strait of Gibraltar - one of the world’s busiest and roughest shipping lanes and run 90 kilometres in the world’s oldest and largest ultra marathon – South Africa’s Comrades Marathon (www.tri4africa.co.uk).

Normally I wouldn’t ask for charity donations but in light of the magnitude of the challenge that lies ahead this seems like a fantastic opportunity to raise a significant sum for the charity Re-Cycle. I initially set a target of raising £1 per mile of this epic triathlon for Re-Cycle  (enough to found a new partner project in Africa) but in the light of the overwhelming and extremely generous response, I have increased the target to £1 per kilometre (with your help we may be able to fund two projects!), so please give generously to this great cause - rest assured I will be seriously made to sweat for it!!

Re-Cycle carry out fantastic work collecting, renovating and shipping second hand and unwanted bikes to partner projects in Africa. The bikes are then given to people in need so that children can travel to school, health workers reach remote regions and people gain access to employment and basic food and water suppliers. Bike mechanics and technicians are also trained at the projects, helping to provide local employment and promote this fun and sustainable form of transport across Africa!

Cheers for your support,

Rob
