About my charity : Marie Curie Cancer Care Marie Curie Cancer Care
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families. Your local Marie Curie Hospice actively promotes quality of life for people with cancer and provides support for their families. The services are completely free to patients. World class scientists at the Marie Curie Research Institute are investigating how cancer develops to find better ways of treating the disease in the future.

My personal message:

I want to raise money for Marie Curie because my father died of cancer in the autumn. He was able to spend his final weeks at home, peaceful and content; all his children were at home when he died. Without the support of Marie Curie he would have had to be in hospital, mostly alone and always miserable. I hope that the same comfort and support would be available to any of us in our turn.

An act of deep masochism is a traditional encouragement, so I will be running the Paris Marathon on April 6th, then cycling (unsupported) to London in time to run the London Marathon on April 13th. A hard week - please make it worthwhile!

Stop press: Paris time 3.08.18, 300 laden cycle miles cold but uneventful, London time 3.19.05. Lots of suffering endured at London, (and when I tried to move the next day...)

I have now reached £10,000, but it was only an arbitrary target - don't be out off contributing. Every pound helps as much as it did before!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie Cancer Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Rob
