I am raising money for Hove YMCA's social enterprise.
Hove YMCA Social Enterprise
It's tough to be a young person with no qualifications, few social skills, and no family support in the present employment climate. Many of the young people Hove YMCA works with come from workless families and have little prospect of getting a real job.
Hove YMCA's experience shows that many young people cannot cope with college courses, and with no qualifications or experience are unable to get a job. So Hove YMCA plans to provide 'on the job' workplace learning, with formal training through social enterprise.
This social enterprise will include a combined warehouse/workshop where they will:
...offer a number of paid apprenticeships
...provide accredcited training for young people in warehousing, electrical repair, woodwork/carpentry, customer care, retail and basic skills
...bring bric-a-brac for sorting and pricing for the charity shops
...a second stage will be to provide a basic maintenance and repairs service to Council properties or other social housing providers.
