I am running the 2010 London Marathon to raise money for the RNLI's Flood Rescue Team. The FRT exists to save lives from inland flooding and the RNLI, as a charity, depends on public support. To highlight the 10th anniversary of the formation of the FRT, a group of ten of us are running the 2010 Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for vital training.
To highlight the team we are also planning to take a boat around the marathon course with us, which will make it that little bit harder! The FRT members are all volunteers who not only commit to rescues at sea but also undertake specialist training to enable them to rescue people at risk in inland flooding. In addition to Cockermouth, we were also involved in the flooding in Hereford and Worcester and in Gloucestershire in July 2007 and the floods in Morpeth in 2008. As a team we are also available to respond to any international disaster as required around the world at a moments notice. All of the team’s efforts are only possible with generous public donations.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
