My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In February 2014  I will attempt to be the first woman solo to the North Pole. It will be a double first because it will be first woman solo to both Poles as in 2004  I succeded in completing my solo expedition to the South Pole.  Although I will be making the trek alone, the expedition is a real team effort and every supporter counts. I'm raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics GB, a fantastic charity that provides constant year-round sports training and competition in Olympic-style events for children and adults with learning disabilities. Since 1978 SOGB has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of people through sport.

The dedication and determination of the Special Olympics athletes are what will spur me on in my 400 mile journey across the frozen Arctic Ocean.

"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
--Special Olympics Motto

My fundraising target of £15000 will help enable Special Olympians to train and take part in their National and International sporting projects.
