Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon 2009 · 31 May 2009 ·

Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

Hi, as most of you will be aware my father Sandy Macrae died of a hypoglycaemic coma on 23rd May 2008. He was an inspiration to myself, my sister Sarah and brother Jamie and a devoted husband to my mother Cath. Whether you knew Sandy as a colleague or friend, I have no doubt you will remember him fondly (even if his jokes were bad!).

This May as a tribute to my father I am running the Edinburgh Marathon in aid of Diabetes UK. To date over £4000 has been raised. The marathon is on Sunday 31st May and I will be proudly sporting my Diabetes UK running vest even if Sandy would snigger at the pink sections! I had set myself the target of matching this sum of £4000 but due to the initial generous response from friends and family have raised the target to £6000.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Diabetes UK gets your money fast and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I hope you will all support me in raising money for Diabetes UK in Sandy's memory.

Thanks for your time and kind regards,

Ross Macrae
