I am undertaking this jump for two main reasons:
To help raise money for some very worthwhile causes
To help raise the profile of Rotary in the town of Dorchester and the surrounding area
In addition to this, I also hope that this jump might show some people that not all accountants are grey and boring!
The tandem parachute jump will be done at Netheravon, the home of the Army Parachute Association. I will be jumping from around 13,000 feet, and accelerating to 120mph during the 45 seconds of freefall. At 5,000 feet my instructor will release the parachute and we will drift gracefully down the rest of the way over 5 minutes (I hope!) In case the parachute doesn’t work some members of the club have helpfully offered to run a competition, along the lines of spot the ball, to guess where different limbs might end up over various counties. As one of them said to me the other day, “weighing as much as you do you’d hit the ground really hard... “
