The above is the coast to coast walk
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This summer, the Dixon family (James, Jenni, Rowan 12 years and Adam 10 years) are hoping to raise money by walking the Coast to Coast Walk which is 194 miles (310km) long. We are raising money for Muscular Dystrophy Research because Adam has had muscle weakness problems. Rowan and Adam are hoping for sponsorship by completing this walk.
The walk was first described by Alfred Wainwright who walked it from the west side of England and finished on the east side of England. The Coast to Coast Walk is unique among Britain's long-distance footpaths in that it was the invention of one man, the legendary Alfred Wainwright, and enjoys no official status like, for example, the National trails in England and Wales. Nevertheless, it has become one of Britain's most popular long-distance walks.
We are doing the walk from East to West so we will start in Robin Hood’s Bay and then go over the North York Moors and finish in the Lake District which is home to the highest mountain in England. After completing the 310 km we will arrive at St Bees on the west coast of England.
The family are keen walkers and by the time Adam was 7 years old he had climbed the three peaks (Scafell Pike, Snowden and Ben Nevis). The next year we did the first 94 miles of the South West Coast Path. We have also climbed many fells in the Lake District.
Thank you all for your support. Rowan and Adam
