Were raising funds for the Freeman hospital Childrens heart unit.  This is a cause close to our hearts as our daughter Ruby was born with a large VSD (hole in the heart) and had open heart surgery at 4 weeks old to fit a P.A Band as she had breathing difficulties and wasnt gaining weight.  She also had a coarctation of the aorta.   The Staff at the freeman are brilliant and work very hard.  Were thankfull to them ruby is still here. So we want to give something back to the unit. We done the coast to coast in september 2011 and raised around £1200.   Were trying to raise as much for the unit as we possible can to enable them to buy up to date equipment and much needed resources.

UPDATE: Ruby had her operation 15th december 2011 to close the hole in her heart.  The consultant David Crossland and surgeon Massimo Griselli and all the surgical staff worked on ruby for 5 hours to remove the PA band that was fitted when she was 4 weeks old.  We were told she might not make it through the operation or might not be home in time for xmas so we were terrified. But our little miracle was off her ventilator after 3 hours, out of intensive care in 19 hours and home in 5 days.  Even the doctors were shocked at how well she pulled through.  Since the operation shes come down with pneumonia, but shes running about all over now and eats food, which shes never ever done before.  I am really grateful to the consultant David Crossland and the surgeon Massimo Griselli and all the surgical team and Tim the Anaesthetist for all they have done and will continue to raise money for the unit. Please help us as without them Ruby would not be here. xxxx
