Story

Hi folkes we’re doing the London Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of the Rudham Childrens Ward at King’s Lynn Hospital

In October 2010, my son was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of anaemia. Archie has Congenital Sideroblastic Anaemia which means that his bone marrow is unable to produce healthy blood cells. Sideroblastic Anaemia stops Archie’s body transferring the iron in his blood into haemoglobin, which red cells need to transport oxygen efficiently.

Until a cure can be found for the condition, Archie needs to have blood transfusions of healthy red cells every three weeks and Iron Chelation therapy for 10 hours, 5 nights a week for the rest of his life.

Your charitable donations would help to fund items and projects to improve children’s experience. Enhance the quality of care, treatment, services and facilities for the patients of the Children’s Rudham Ward at The Kings Lynn Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This ward including the Doctors, Nurses and Play Specialists have been Archie’s lifeline for the last few years and will continue to do so for Archie and many other children in the future.

Update 30/09/2013

I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us through the last six months in preparation for the London Royal Parks Half Marathon. Your support is not just through sponsorship, it's the knowing that people care, it's knowing that actually as a community we can make a difference, a difference that will change not just one child's life but many. It's an honour to have the privilege to run, and raise money for a children's ward that have changed the life's of many children. Children who like us adults face periods of darkness when they least expect it. On Sunday we will run the RPHM in London and achieve the greatest gift that man could give, a smile knowing we made a difference.
