Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My Dad was diagnosed with a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme in April 2014 and a couple of weeks ago he was given 6 to 12 months to live. My wife has also fought leukaemia for the past two years and this year has had a stem cell transplant.

Over the last four years we have raised £500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and around £3000 for various cancer charities. With everything that is going on with my Dad it has become apparent just how horrible brain tumours are. The high grade Glioblastoma multiforme is the most aggressive.

The evolution of treatment for such cancers has been terribly slow due to their complex and difficult to treat nature, so I want to do my bit to support the most effective brain tumour research charity and to prevent me feeling quite so useless in what my Dad is going through. Did you know that the long term survival chance in folks with a grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme is nil? That is even if they use all of the available treatment options e.g. surgery to debulk the tumour, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

I will be doing a number of ultra marathons in 2015, and while the Oner isn't going to be the longest, it is certainly the toughest. Last year I only made it 56 miles and timed out at a checkpoint after being caught out by the weather. I was dressed as Superman and will be returning this year in fancy dress to crush it, no matter what.

Check out my report of my experience last year here, but before you go please click donate and cough up some money for an awesome cause.
