Update 15/04/2008 Well, I finally got round in 4:08:09, slightly behind my target, but pleased to finish (especially as I was having calf trouble in the last couple of weeks).
The conditions were very different from last year, the temperature was generally ideal, although when the rain came it was pretty cold, which didn't help, but better than overheating ;-)
The winner of the Champagne was Steve Bonner from work who guessed 04:08:00 (i.e. 9 seconds out).
Thanks again for all the support.

------------------------------------- It's that time of the year again and I have yet again agreed to run the London Marathon for RAFT (http://www.raft.ac.uk/). This will be the 12th time I've run for them and my dad will also be running for them for his 14th time (he couldn't stop at 13!!!).
Please take a couple of minutes to have a look at their website to see the type of work they do. When we first ran the marathon for them in 1993 it was because they could get us a place, we then went to some of their open evenings to see their work and thought that if you're going to put your body through that sort of pain it should be for a good cause... and this one is!!! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RAFT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
When you sponsor me, please put your estimate for my finishing time in the comment box (to the minute and second to avoid having a draw at the end). I'll be giving a bottle of Champagne to the person who gets closest. To give you an idea, last year I managed 4h 11m 54s but the weather was not the best for running; I am hoping to break 4h this year and I have actually been doing some proper training this time (including the Gloucester 20 mile on 2nd March) So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. Rob (a.k.a. Alun)
