Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page!
We are running this year's Junior Great North Run for our little sister Grace, and in honour of a little local girl, also called Grace, who passed away as she was born prematurely. We're raising money for The Grace Research Fund to help premature babies in Coventry and Warwickshire - here is our story!
When our mum announced unexpectedly that she was going to have her 5th child, we were so excited! At the same time but in another house, her boyfriend was also announcing the terific news to his children, my step sister and brother. We were all bubbling with happiness and suggesting names like Chuck Norris and Gurtha...... however, on the 9th of August we were out with our Mum when she rushed to the toilets and her water broke - this was 3 months early!
Nobody really knew what to expect as our Mum had not intended to have another child, but our little sister was a miracle and nothing could stop her! After a complicated birth with too many details for us kids to really understand, our mum gave birth to an angel in disguise! Grace.
After multiple visits to the neonatal unit, me and my step-sister noticed a poster for the Great North Run... the charity just so happened to be called GRACE RESEARCH FUND! This caught our eye immediately and we just had to take part!!!
We told our parents and without a moment's hesitation our brothers decided to join us on the run - even my step-sister's younger cousin decided to join us to raise money for an amazing cause, which we can all relate to as we have baby Grace in hospital. She is now on the mend and will soon be coming home to open arms and a warm, bubbling home to care and love her.
Please sponsor us so we can help premature babies and their families. Thank you for your support!
