Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac) is the only hospice in Staffordshire supporting Children, Young Adults & Adults. Care is given to patients who are living with a life-limiting illness at our two sites and in the community. We also provide support for patients families and their carers.

Story

Hi Everyone,

Yes you better believe it, it really is me "Running for Rich" with the rest of the motley crew on the left (The Dyke St Midnight Runners)....and you didn't even know that I owned a pair of running shoes !! So why am I doing it ! Well, apart from getting fit (haha) I'm helping to raise much needed funds for the Douglas MacMillan Hospice in memory of our friend and colleague, Richard Morris who died there in September 2007.

Richard was a social worker at the Mental Health Single Point of Access Team in Hanley. He'd worked in social care and health since 1989 and had an impact on the lives of so many people.

When Rich became ill at the beginning of 2007 it affected all of us- family, friends and colleagues. He and his wife Di ( who still works with us) benefited from the care and support offered by the hospice and it's staff. During his last few days the hospice extended their welcome to all of us who wanted to say our last goodbyes. That is something none of us will forget and just one of the reasons why we want to raise as much as we can for a fantastic cause.

Please  help us to reach our target-the hospice really does need our support to continue it's fantastic work. Dig deep- any donation will be more than gratefully received.

Thanks from all The Dyke St Midnight Runners- Running For Rich
