Robin and Lucille ran the New York Marathon on 1 November 2009... all 42km... to raise money for Fairbridge.
44000 people ran 42km through 5 boroughs with 4 killer bridges and frustratingly long uphills! We felt terrible but amazing... and so proud we both managed to finish - despite Luc seeing the inside of a medical tent at mile 18> Luc's time was 5hrs and Robin's was 3hrs 40min! We've raised around £1800 for Fairbridge and couldn't walk for days...
Thanks so much for your support! Job done... but what next?!
Fairbridge help young people break the chaotic cycle sometimes find themselves in and give them a fairer chance to succeed in life. They offer young people from the most disadvantaged areas across the personal support and challenging activities, through which they can develop the confidence, skills and motivation everyone needs to lead fulfilling lives.
Last year, Fairbridge helped 3,728 take their first step. Most were classed as having ‘multiple needs’, such as homelessness, substance misuse or a history of offending. Yet over the last 12 months, almost two-thirds went on to achieve something tangible. They returned to the classroom, started a college course, got a qualification or found a job. Over a thousand are still actively engaged in the Programme.
Thanks for whatever you can spare.
Best wishes,
