Training is what turns a volunteer from someone who is willing to save lives into someone who can do it well and safely. When we train one, we save many.
Only one in 10 crew members join the RNLI from a professional maritime occupation. That makes training all the more important, but it all comes at a price... It costs £100 a month to train an RNLI volunteer, or £1,214 a year. But that training could save many lives.
A couple of years ago, some of those lives saved were ours. So, we aim to raise enough to train just one RNLI volunteer for one month. Might not seem like much, but could make a big difference. We're running (or attempting to at least...) 5km in Sefton Park, Liverpool on Saturday August 7th. Give as little or as much as you can, It's all appreciated. :)
