Every couple of years I raise money for St Luke’s Hospice by walking for a few days. The challenge is completing the full distance across varied terrain and coping in all weather from scorching sun to soaking rain.
This year I am venturing through the beautiful Lake District with its unpredictable weather and many streams. We have been warned that we will get wet!
All sponsorship is welcome – and the cause… Well, a previous chairman of the Hospice used to say that the money raised from the annual sponsored walk paid for all the drugs needed by the patients. In other words, no one who required pain relief went without.
Even if I say that I am raising money to buy drugs that is not the full story. Find out more about St Luke’s Hospice: www.stlukes-hospice.org/index.htm
My pain: walking 72 miles during 1st-5th May 2008 plus the many hours of training in previous months required to ensure that I can complete the walk.
My relief: visiting various hostelries along the route and the companionship of 100 or so fellow walkers
So please sponsor me now and help achieve my target: £1000
Using this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Luke's Hospice (Kenton Grange) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
