Dear Friends, colleagues and family,

I'm running the London Marathon for Help a London Child, which is a really fabulous charity. I was shocked to learn that one child in every three living in the capital is in poverty, but we can make a difference to that.

I'd like to see more of them get the start in life they deserve, and that we'd all like for kids of our own.

Those of you who have known me for a long time will know I am not the most natural runner in the world, but it is worth it for this cause. The training is very hard, particularly at 6am on cold, rainy winter mornings (Mondays!) but the good news is you don't have to do it - I do! All you have to do is donate, which is relatively painless....

I have a demanding target for donations, as you can see, but I'm sure with your generous support it is not too ambitious and we will reach it. 

Even a small sum will make a huge difference to a child's life, so go on - support me! You will keep me going as I pound those pavements, parks and towpaths.
