My story

Thanks for visiting - please take a few minutes to read on...

I'll be turning 40 next month and wanted to do something worthwhile to mark that grand old age, hence the fresh new fundraising page. Most of you already know about my cousin Louise; her husband Neil was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease just before Christmas 2007. Neil passed away on February 25th 2009. He and Louise documented their experience on their blog www.plattitude.co.uk.  It has helped raise awareness of the disease and also enabled them to stay in contact with the outside world through their difficult journey.

A big thanks to everyone who sponsored me via my original page for the Motor Neurone Disease Association - people were very generous and the total was much more than I'd expected. With this new page I hope to raise a bit more, specifically for the new dedicated MND research centre in Sheffield. Who knows, work there could one day benefit Neil and Louise's gorgeous little Oscar.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sheffield Institute Foundation for Motor Neurone Disease gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Many of you have already donated - heartfelt thanks again; please consider giving a little more to this specific cause - the research centre is much needed.  Alternatively, or in addition, if anyone has bright ideas or useful media contacts that could help in raising awareness of this cruel, fatal disease, please get in touch with Louise via the Plattitude link above. Increased publicity draws in more funding potential for vital research....
