Clatterbridge Cancer Research - Circle of Hope Bike Ride 2012 · 6 May 2012 ·

We are an independent charity dedicated to putting our region’s cancer needs first, funding pioneering research to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer. We focus on the types of cancer that affect people living across North West England and North Wales the most.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Clatterbridge Cancer Research works to fund research to advance the understanding of cancer for the people of Merseyside and Cheshire.

Not to be mistaken for Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, their research laboratories based in Liverpool focus on how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, as well as understanding how to provide the most effective ongoing care for cancer patients.

Reasons for doing this are simple. In Merseyside and Cheshire, we have the worst cancer mortality rates in the country. In fact, as a resident of this region, the reality is that you are 37% more likely to die from cancer compared with the national average. They aim to level the playing field by investing in research which takes place right in the heart of our region and directly benefits every resident of Merseyside and Cheshire. Put quite simply, the more money we can invest in cancer research, the more lives we can save in our region.

Over the past 31 years Clatterbridge Cancer Research have invested more than £20 million into cancer research taking place right on your doorstep – but we can’t continue to do this without your support.

While the name Clatterbridge is synonymous with cancer in our region, Clatterbridge Cancer Research is in fact an independent charity which receives no NHS funding and relies solely upon public donations to survive.

They need to raise in excess of £2 million every year to continue with their vital research – that is nearly £5,500 every day, so please dig deep and donate now.
