UPDATE 07/10/09
Following ongoing reviews of the proposed project area in India and due specifically to an escalating threat of violent ‘terrorist’ activity very close to the proposed project site in Jharkhand, we have had to take the decision to completely reorganise
The NEW Project foothills of Mt.Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, East Africa
This project will work alongside local communities and within two community schools to develop their educational facilities and improve the learning environment and experience for many hundreds of local school kids. There is a school hall and kitchen to complete, many classrooms to renovate and a playground to be designed and built as a starting point. Tanzania has huge number of orphans resulting from HIV/Aids our efforts over this time period will have a massive impact on these communities and importantly give much needed hope for the children of this region and for generations to come.
eaga will still be helping the marhamjhaga village in the future to carry out the changes required but will also be making a large donation now to help in the short term also half of any money raised on this page will go to this cause .
The future project
In the future Eaga be travelling to Marhamjhanga in Jharkhand which is a small tribal village in India. they are planning to build a small school from the foundations which were laid previously. they are also going to be building new sanitation facilities which will prevent disease and illness that is caused by poor hygiene and sanitation. We will also install a new irrigation system. The new irrigation system will help improve farming in the area and increase productivity of the rice paddies which help the village become self-sustainable.
We will be working alongside major children’s charity, Child Reach International to achieve these projects. We hope to make a big difference to these needy villages and to give the children some hope for the future.
At present the only income coming in to the village is through crops and farming which is roughly around a 100 rupees a week, (which is around one pound twenty five sterling!). Charity does not mean giving people money, its about giving them a chance to become liberated, giving them the tools and the irrigation systems which will help the rice paddies grow and helping them become independent individuals who will in time be able to earn their own money to live.
100 rupees a week is also the cost for a family if their child becomes ill and needs to be seen by a doctor. Many children are never treated for their illness due to the high cost of medical treatment. Dig deep into your pockets and pay for much needed schools, teachers and the kind of healthcare these children deserve. We take this for granted how easy it is to take our loved-ones to the hospital – let’s make this a chance for survival and not a financial worry!
Our trip is being funded by Eaga but I am hoping to raise some money for both charities to enable them continue their good work in the future. We are hoping to raise enough money which will include paying for a teacher to teach at the new school house we are going to build. The gift of education……make the children of today into bright stars of the future!
This is your chance to make a big difference with very little effort. Please take a while to reflect on how for the price of a pint of beer or a new lipstick this can make a difference these children and their future.
