This event was the idea that came and stuck in my mind as a tribute to Sam's courage and perserverence throughout his illness, he was such a brave boy.

Yorkhill Family House made it possible for his family to be as close to him as possible throughout his illness and that is why I will be fundraising as much as possible to help them continue their fantastic work.

Sam, my nephew, battled for twelve weeks with a number of illnesses that caused first his kidneys to fail, then his colon to be irreparably damaged. The underlying condition was a form of vasculitis called polyarteritis nodosa which caused rogue immune cells in his body to attack the arteries, however this was combined with a very rare combination of other illnesses. The result was that even with the best possible medical care, many, many hours of surgery and radical drug treatments, no-one was able to prevent Sam's death.

There has already been a lot of fundraising done by many people to contribute to the wonderful playground refurbishment that is happening in Kirkton. This attempt at fundraising is just my way of saying thank you from all my family for the wonderful chance that Yorkhill Family House gave us to spend as much time as possible with Sam while he was ill.
