On Sunday 25 April, I'll be running in the Virgin London Marathon 2010 for Breast Cancer Haven. After my first marathon in 2007, I vowed never to do another. However, I've been persuaded to run with a friend and am now focussing on finishing in under 3.5 hours.
My goal is to raise as much money as possible for Breast Cancer Haven. In case you don't know, its an extraordinary charity that offers free support, help & complementary therapies to anyone affected by breast cancer. Their 3 centres throughout the UK were founded on the idea that no-one should face cancer alone. These centres provide free treatments offered by a team of specialist nurses and therapists who design individually tailored programmes to suit each person. They also offer help to families of cancer sufferers.
1 in 9 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer PER YEAR. I am fully committed to raising as much as possible for this fantastic charity. I'm putting in the miles (around 45 per week at the moment!!!) so please will you put your hands in your pockets and give what you can.
On grey, cold, rainy days when you really don't feel like running for 2 hours, it's very motivating to log on to your donations page and read messages and remember why you're doing this.
