Thanks for taking the time to visit Sam's Fund for Spinal Research JustGiving page.

When Sam Puttick was just 16 months old, he was involved in a terrible car accident.  He suffered a complete spinal cord injury, leaving him unable to move or feel from the neck down and dependent on a ventilator for his breathing.

When his loving parents, Neil and Kazumi, found out about Spinal Research, they immediately became enthusiastic supporters of our charity.  We all got to know and admire this amazing family - Sam could not have wished for better parents and he was such a brave, happy little boy.

Unfortunately, life still had more heartbreak in store for them.  In May 2009 Sam's little body was struck down with meningitis, and he died at home aged only five.  Neil and Kazumi could not live without him, and took their own lives shortly after.

Sam's grandmother said to us "It is a cruel blow that Sam had his life cut so short - but in Sam's Fund his name and memory will live on."

Some amazing discoveries have been made in the field of spinal cord repair already.  With our Translational Initiative, we are aiming to 'translate' what has been proven to repair spinal cord injury in the laboratory into treatments that are safe to test on people who are paralysed.

It is a really exciting time for research, and it is so painful that Sam and his parents aren't here to witness it.  They believed strongly that a cure for spinal cord injury is getting closer and closer.

You can help to make it happen.  Please donate what you can today to Sam's Fund for Spinal Research.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to us and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - Spinal Research raises more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you for supporting Sam's Fund for Spinal Research.
