Celebrating with my friends and family is all I really want for my birthday. For those of you who absolutely insist upon buying me a present to mark the terrifying fact that I am on the precipice of my fourth decade, please consider donating to MDAC-UK, a small charity for which I am a Trustee.
MDAC-UK supports its sister charity in Budapest, working to give hope and a voice to children and adults with mental health disabilities in Europe and Central Asia, who all too frequently have their rights abused and ignored.
You will not only help raise vital funds for a great cause but also allow me to continue to fantasy-buy coffee tables, candles and bed throws from the comfort of my sofa at the same time worrying about my need to exercise now that my metabolism has ground to a halt.
By all means mark my birthday with a card or even a photograph of something jolly we’ve done together. I will collect up all these mementoes in a book and perhaps even annotate them while I can still just about remember what's going on!
