My story

I finished my marathon! I managed it in 3 hours 57, about which I am just ecstatic! If you've sponsored you should have received/be receiving an email telling you all about my endeavour (and apologies for the low quality picture on the site, it is from a mobile but I desperately wanted to use one with my Stonewall t-shirt, race number and medal!). You can still sponsor retrospectively, with the money going to Stonewall to support young lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

Last year I wrote a research paper on how to tackle homophobia and pioneered a gay rights movement in my school, spreading the message that casual homophobia is wrong through the lower years, whilst pushing for change in policy. Now the school has implemented a new programme, with the goal of eliminating homophobia so to create a positive, safe environment for the students.

I have since joined Stonewall - the leading gay equality charity in the country – and learnt of thousands of schools in the same position as mine was. Gay students are currently in unsafe, unproductive and unhappy environments, victims of homophobia. However Stonewall can provide help, with educational resources and training to help schools introduce change. Whilst change won't happen overnight, we are gradually seeing improvements. Gay rights isn't a sprint, it's a marathon!

So please donate as much as you can spare to help eradicate homophobia from our society; every little helps, but the more the better!!
