As many of you will be aware, Olive Levy (my gran) died shortly before Christmas 2007 aftera long fight with various forms of cancer.  She originally had breast cancer about 30 years ago, but with treatment and support she beat it.  Having overcome that challenge she always encouraged me to get on and do things ! 

Grandpa nursed gran through the final weeks in such a caring and compassionate way, it seems very unfair that he has also been diagnosed with bone cancer.

The staff and facilities at St Luke's helped gran in many ways, and they are now helping grandpa so it feels right to try and help their cancer fund.

They work with world expeditions and have arranged a fund raising trek to do the Inca Trail in Peru in October 2008.  My uncle was considering doing the trek, and as it is somewhere that I have often thought about visiting I said that I would join him if he signed up.  Well, he signed up so here I am too!

The charity requires that I inform you that approximately one third of my minimum sponsorship (£3,000) goes towards covering the cost of the trip.  Also, if for any reason I am unable to undertake the trek or it is cancelled, all sponsorship monies must be passed to the St Luke's Cancer Fund charity.  I have every intention of successfully completing the trek !
