David and Rod took off successfully on Thurs 9th Feb from Elstree on their epic trip, and arrived in Johannesburg a week later. After repairs to the plane, they arrived in Cape Town on Tues 28th Feb. David Harrisberg and Rodney Dennis undertook an incredible challenge, flying a single-engined plane from London to Cape Town. This feat involved tremendous determination and technical expertise, and not a few hazards enroute. David and Rod are hoping to raise as much as possible for the One2One Childrens Fund www.one2onekids.org. From its childrens' HIV/AIDS treatment base at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, the charity recently launched the PATA (Paediatric Aids Treatment for Africa) initiative, bringing together 23 treatment teams- doctors, nurses, counsellors and pharmacists- from 10 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, to share experience and develop ways of ensuring better access and adherence to anti-retroviral treatment for hundreds of thousands of children born with the HIV virus. The flightforlife plane will touch down in some of the countries and bring hope and tangible support to the treatment teams, their communities and their children......with a clear message: you are not alone!
