We aim to raise £5000 by October 2010 to build a new micro hydro plant for a village of 500 people in Peru. This is a UN award-winning idea from Practical Action.


Micro-hydro brings environmental benefits through:-

·             Avoiding the use of fossil fuels

·             Not using large dams, with their associated flooding of land

·             Environmental sustainability


Benefits of a reliable electricity supply are significant:-

·             Refrigeration e.g. for health clinincs

·             Communications e.g. for schools and businesses

·             Lighting

·             Internet access and mobile phone charging

·             Computers

·             Ability to run machinery

·             Allows for new profitable businesses to be started, helping to pay for the micro-hydro scheme

·             People are drawn back to their rural communities because they have a better life
