Story
I am taking part in Tough Mudder, a 12 mile obstacle course designed by the Special Forces to test ones all round strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. Tough Mudder is more than a race it’s a way of thinking, its a true sense of accomplishment. The obstacles along the 12 mile run include a mud mile, walking through fire, jumping into icy water, sprinting through live wires carrying as much as 10,000 volts of electric shock and lots more. My two colleagues Stu and Robin are also taking on this challenge with me!
I am taking part in this challenging event in memory of my late grandmother ‘Prumps’ (Elizabeth Moss) who suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and died in her prime at the age of only 58. Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle and can affect people of all ages and is mostly inherited. More and more people are being diagnosed by this disease and more often than not they have been unaware that they even have it.
Prumps was an incredible mother, wife and best friend. I sadly never knew her but am told on numerous occasions how much I’m like her. She made the most of every situation, was a friend to all and in life her glass was always half full. I am therefore taking on this challenge in memory of her.
This charity is really close to my heart; this event will certainly test my heart and your generosity will help raise awareness and help others also live their lives to the full.
