Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
This is my story - In November 2006 I was diagnosed with cancer of the colon and bladder with extensive lymph node involvement. In the December I had major surgery at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and 3 weeks later commenced 9 difficult months of chemotherapy. In February 2007 a CT scan indicated that the cancer had spread to the liver and I was given a prognosis of 2 years average. In October 2008 after 2 very hard years of recovery, I returned to work and in December 2008 I had a clear CT scan.
In recent years, my Mum, Dad and sister have also had cancer diagnoses.
I have been a Macmillan Nurse since 2003, prior to which I worked at the Arthur Rank Hospice, , for 10 years. Being a Macmillan Nurse has had advantages but also many disadvantages and I am fully aware of survival statistics. Having been through this traumatic experience I decided that I wanted to do something challenging and different, so I have registered to complete the China Hiking Challenge in April 2010. This involves an 8 day itinary, walking 20+ miles each day along the Great Wall of China.
Therefore I am writing to ask if you would be kind enough to sponsor me to help me raise the necessary £3,500 for Macmillan Cancer Relief in order for me to help people who like me are affected by cancer. A nominal amount would be gratefully received - every little helps.
Alternatively, if you feel able to host a coffee morning, quiz evening, raffle etc (contact me for further ideas) or ANY fundraising venture, I (and others!) would be incredibly grateful.
Cheques can be made payble to ' Macmillan Cancer Support', and can be sent to me either at work or at home.
PLEASE sponsor me!
