** I'VE DONE IT!!!    YOU CAN STILL SPONSOR ME!!   LET'S TRY AND GET TO £4K!!

This page CLOSES SOON! DONATE NOW!   **

Hi, thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Well, I am now the proud owner of a certificate from Macmillan to prove I completed the Central American cycling challenge!! Although an empty pot of ASSOS cream, a sore left leg and a very nasty smelling bag could have told me that.

What an experience, everyone should do one. It was so much harder than I could have ever imagined, but what a team, everyone supporting each other and some truly inspirational reasons for why people were doing the challenge.

Enjoying all the kids in Panama watch us cycle by shouting 'Hola gringos!' at us (with the ocassional one attempting to push me off my bike). Being woken up at 4am by Howler monkeys as we camped in the Costa Rican jungle. Suddenly being moved from a waterstop by a herd of cows, eating mouthfuls of flies and swimming in Lake Nicaragua in err...Nicaragua was amazing!

We rode for 660kms on MANY UNDULATING roads; climbed over 20,000 feet; cycled in temperatures up to 42C; humidity was so high our clothes never dried so we wore damp clothes pretty much every day. Chaffing galore!

As you can see I have gone through the guideline target of £3.3k which I always wanted to do for Macmillan - AMAZING!! Thank you so much, without your support this would not have been possible. Please don't stop donating - Let's try and get £4k?!!?

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

This was the itinerary if you are still interested:

http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Get_Involved/Biking_events/CentralAmerica/Day_by_day_itinerary.aspx

So please sponsor me! These were my reasons for doing it in the first place:
* I have never done anything like this before in my life, it won't be a walk in the park, nor a cycle in the park for that matter

* I've lost grandparents to cancer but also been incredibly pleased and proud of my family members who have either had scares (myself included) or fought it hard and responded amazingly well to treatment and are still keeping me in my place today

* Macmillan do great work and I wanted to give something back and really help make a difference to people's lives affected by cancer

* I eat too many chocolate Freddos and this is a sure fire way to stop eating them (or eating them guilt-free I guess)

* I wanted a big challenge for 2009 - I think this will do..

* I aim to bring back spokey dokeys into the biking world and for them to be cool once again

* I have done 5k, 10k runs and Half Marathons and wanted to sit down for a bit this time

* I want thighs like Beyonce..I guess the rest of her would be pretty awesome too

* I can finally justify eating lots of jacket potatoes, pasta and cereal - essential for training, yes?

* I secretly like lycra, it feels nice

* You never know what's around the corner so I am going to push myself to do things that seem scary, in all aspects of my life, and take risks (good ones!) in 2009 and beyond

* I now have a very good reason to stop moaning about the train and bus service and can ride to work..impressive and scary!

* I love helmet hair, it's such a good look

* 1 in 3 of us are likely to get cancer in some form, at some point in our lives and this makes me incredibly sad - but even more determined to do this and help in the small way I can to make people's lives and suffering less painful if the worst should happen. So dig deep!

Thank you kind people xxx Sarah
