On the 5th September 2007 our world fell apart when our eldest child Abigail, then aged just 6, was diagnosed with metastatic medulloblastoma, a brain tumour. Within days she had undergone a 7 hour operation to remove as much of the primary tumour as possible. We then had to wait for her to recover and prepare her for both radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Abi was offered a place on a clinical trial, radiotherapy twice a day every day for 5 weeks was a daunting prospect but her best chance of survival. She was then given 9 months of chemotherapy.
Abi is now back at school full time, she loves playing with her two little brothers and hopes one day to become a world famous artist.
Thank you to Cancer Research UK for working tirelessly to find cures for children like Abi.
