Hello,
I did it!
I actually swam a mile in only 53 minutes!!!
I swam on Sunday 3rd August to raise money for Kidney Research as part of the Find a Cure for Martha Campaign.
Martha is a 3 year-old little girl who lives in Marple, Stockport. Martha suffers from Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), one of many diseases that affect kidney function.
Within 5 years Martha’s kidneys will fail completely. She will then have to go on dialysis, linked up to a machine for several hours a day, three, possibly four, times a week. This is life-limiting enough for an adult but I just can’t imagine what it would be like for a young child. What is more, Martha faces a lifetime on dialysis as, owing to the FSGS, Martha has an important gene missing which means that she only has a 30% chance of a successful transplant.
If you would like to find out more information about Martha and the campaign you can visit her website at: www.findacure4martha.org.uk,
The Find a Cure for Martha Campaign is the chosen charity of the Marple Business Forum 2008 of which I am a member .
So please sponsor me now!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for your support.
