On Sunday 5th October I will be taking part in The Great North Run.
I would love you to help me raise some money for The Alzheimers Society as they do so much valuable work for those suffering with the disease and also for their families and carers. You can find out about their work at their website www.alzheimers.org.uk
Mum had Alzheimers and she died in July this year, the photo here was taken just a few weeks before. Prior to her illness she was the life and soul of any party, she loved to share laughter with others and was a warm and intelligent woman. She wasn't a sporty type at all (although she loved to watch Wimbledon and Yorkshire winning at cricket) and I'm sure she would have been completely bemused by my love of running! She loved music, something I have inherited (I run to music) and there are thousands of songs that bring her back to me just for a moment.
I shall run this half marathon for my Mums memory and for the benefit of the many many more Mums & Dads, Sisters & Brothers, Uncles & Aunts who continue to suffer with this merciless disease.
Please please help them by giving as much as you can. Do it now, don't leave it til another time.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
PS If you should encounter any difficulty with making a donation here please contact the helpdesk on help@justgiving.net
On behalf of those who can't manage to put the words together any more - thank you.
