My story

We are Heather and Keith Parkinson (HP & KP) and this will be our first time taking up the challenge of the Mac 4x4.  From what friends have said, we are not sure if the biggest challenge will be the Mac 4x4 or keeping our marriage together!   It will be very tiring, but we hope you will agree worth it in order to raise money for this good cause.

We both believe that Macmillan is a tremendous cause, and needs every penny that supporters can raise.  Both of us have had close family members with terminal cancer needing the care offered by Macmillan and other similar organisations.  We have experienced first hand the care and support that Macmillan provides and hope that you will agree this is a great cause to support.  Please show that support by making a donation to our team.  All donations go to Macmillan - the cost of equipment, fuel and food is covered by us.  The challenge last year raised in excess of £110,000 and over 5 years since the challenge began it has raised in excess of £250,000 for Macmillan Cancer support.

The Mac4x4 (www.mac4x4.co.uk) is a huge navigation exercise for people like us who like to drive off road.  Three days in a Land Rover, navigating round the country on and off road with just maps, no sat nav allowed, trying to complete the various challenges and collecting points as quickly as possible without breaking any laws.  We will be doing the challenge in our Land Rover 110, so hopefully she will be up for the challenge.  In the time that we have had her she has not let us down, a few scares but no failures, so hopefully mechanical failure will not stop us completing the challenge.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
