Scannappeal's current Appeals include:

 

The Cancer Fighting Fund which is a multi-million pound Appeal for state-of the-art equipment to detect cancer, and for the treatment of cancer patients. From 2007-2012 there will be a variety of projects, large and small, to provide 21st century care for different types of cancers.

 

Phase One (£150,000) is for specialist equipment for the early detection of lung cancer and treatment of other chest diseases such as emphysema, tuberculosis and asthma.

 

Phase Two (£150,000) will fund a special laser for less invasive treatment of prostate cancer, an automated processor to allow a rapid prostate biopsy results service and specialist equipment to assess those with possible bladder cancer

 

Donors may also express a preference to support the purchase of equipment for treating other cancers, many of which will be covered by future phases of this Appeal.

 

 

The HeartScan Appeal (£125,000) for advanced echocardiography equipment to diagnose those with cardiac disease, and prevent strokes and heart failure. Coronary heart disease is the most common cause of death in the UK and one in five men and one in six women die from the disease.




Our history

Scannappeal was founded in 1987 and raises funds for vital medical equipment for hospitals in Buckinghamshire, particularly for cancer patients.  Sixteen appeals for equipment have now been completed, raising over £7m.  This equipment has been used by one in seven of the local population.

The charity has purchased a CT Scanner, Spiral CT Scanner, MRI Scanner, Radioisotope Scanner, Vascular Scanner and Bone Densitometer; equipped a Cancer Unit, Women's Scanning Centre, Specialist Eye Screening Service, Endoscopy, Urology and Keyhole Surgery Units, and provided specialist equipment for breast cancer surgeons, paediatric consultants and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
