In a moment of madness I signed up to take part in
the Great North Swim and swim a mile across Lake Windermere in
September in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind. Please help me make it all
worthwhile by sponsoring me.
I've now completed the race (though you can still donate) - I came 144th out of the 6000 with a time of 25:27, which means I made my target time. All the hard work paid off - thanks to all who sponsored and supported me; it was an amazing experience and I'll definitely try open water swimming again.
Guide Dogs for the blind do valuable work providing mobility and
freedom to blind and partially-sighted people; campaigning for the
rights of those with visual impairments; and educating the public about
eye care. They invest millions of pounds in eye disease research.
