Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CMT United Kingdom gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Hi All,
So you all know!! I DID IT!!
For some slightly insane reason I have decided to run it for a second time!!!
For one reason I would like to improve my time from last year. The other is in a mad moment I made a promise to a friend to run for her charity.
The Charity I’m running for is CMT or Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (a muscle wasting disease). I have attached the link to their website and added a little bit more about the Disease at the bottom of this mail.
This is not one of the big charities you see which have a huge number of runners and a huge number of events and support all year round.
In-fact after talking to our friend and the charity directly we have discovered that no-one has run The London Marathon for them for quite some time, (I think the Dim & Distant past was the term used)!!!!
If like me you'd not heard of CMT before now, you can understand that they need all the support we can possibly give them.
My friend is a very funny, outgoing and fun-loving person, always up for a drink and a laugh! And appears very healthy....... A great athlete at school and a keen gym goer too. However CMT affects your muscles wasting them away. Over time the simplest of things like running for a Bus or Train have become nearly impossible. Every part of normal life has had to be adjusted to fit around CMT, just standing in a pub or on a tube can be a very painful thing.
CMT is also Hereditary, Being passed on from generation to generation. One of their main aims is to research and work on a way to remove these genes, to enable sufferers to have children without the condition. As well as working on treatments to ease pain and discomfort and maybe even finding some sort of a cure.
So I know you’re all busy and the credit crunch is on! But please spare few minutes to donate to my marathon Mission.
Please also pass the link on to anyone you feel would like to donate
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I would be very grateful for any amount you can spare. Fingers Crossed for the 26th April!!!
Scott.
