You know those days when you put yourself forward for something, then you wonder why the bloody hell you've done it.

Well, I've done just that.

Next Thursday I will be running up every staircase in Tower 42, one of the tallest buildings in the City landscape, for Shelter. That's running up 42 floors, 920 steps in approximately 15 minutes.

And when did I enter this feat of endurance?

This morning.

And how long do I have to train and prepare for the horrific agony on my legs?

Six days.

SIX DAYS.

I know, this sounds like a terrible idea. I haven't run in about three years and I'm always the one to take a lift even in a two-storey shopping centre, but why not? Shelter is a wonderful charity who do some great work (work that's even more essential whilst the economy is screwed). Plus come to think of it, if I manage to finish it I'll have thighs like a tank.
