About The Scout Association

The aim of the Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The association does this by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership.

Today, there are over half a million adults and young people enjoying the fun and friendship of scouting in the UK.

Children in hospital
Scouting has been going to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children for more than 40 years. Each week eight leaders work with children between the ages of 6 and 16 years old, offering games and crafts, map and compass work, cooking and camping skills ...

There are currently 8,994 scout groups that are part of the governing body of The Scout Association.  Each scout group will be involved in its own individual projects, however all will be working together toward the 2007 Jamboree that celebrates 100 years of scouting.
