1st Astley Scouts work with young people from all backgrounds and abilities to help to instil in them good leadership, self-confidence, and good citizenship skills.
For the last two years we have held a sponsored hike in the Lake District to raise vital funds to enable the troop to operate. We still intend holding the the annual sponsored event but we have decided to complete a 3 hike challenge and give half of any money raised to Help for Heroes.
The challenge will begin with a 6 mile nighttime hike from our HQ to Middlewood Scout campsite on the 4th December.
The second hike will be a day hike on the Pennine Moors in January 2010. (Date to be confirmed)
The final hike will be in the Lake District in February 2010. (Date to be confirmed)
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated, it will not only raise vital funds for the troop but also we can support our servicemen and women, and their families.
