In the last 12 months my work as a researcher has bought me into contact with nearly 100 people who's lives are devoted to caring for someone who could not manage without their support. Carers are often on duty 24hours a day attending, without pay, to the needs of a partner, friend, neighbor, child or parent. The pressures on them can be enormous.

On 19th June, I will be swimming a mile non-stop in open water at Alton Water, Suffolk to raise funds for Suffolk Family Carers. I have been so impressed with the work of this organisation that provides support to Carers including respite, advice and training. However, it is not just me that has been impressed. The Carers I have met have been overwhelmingly positive in what they have said about the organisation and it is that which has really encouraged me to offer my support to this charity.
