On August 8th Mike and Doug will set off on an Andean Adventure designed to raise vital funds for a children's refuge in Peru.
The intrepid explorers need sponsorship to climb the Inca Trail and scale the heights of the glorious Machu Picchu - an ancient Inca City some 4200 metres above sea level.
Mike and Doug are trekking the Inca Trail for Project Peru, a small and totally voluntary UK-based charity that offers food, clothes, shelter, education and fun to those in need in a country where half the population exists on less than a dollar a day (Registered Charity Number 1049413).
This amazing family-run charity runs a refuge for over 30 children from the shanty towns of Lima, including those who have been abandoned or placed in danger by the poverty that surrounds them.
Mike comments: "We have undergone a punishing training schedule in preparation for this arduous task - dad's physique now resembles that of a Greek god, while I have finally shed the Gazza-esque five bellies and am primed for action.
"Your online donations will help to improve the lives of these children so we would be very grateful if you could dig deep and sponsor us online!"
What do we need the money for?
A £20 donation covers the cost of all medicines for a month...A £50 donation will pay a month's electricity bill at the refuge...A £60 donation will cover one child's school fees for a year...A £250 donation covers all basic care for one child at the refuge...A £300 donation pays for the birthday parties and celebrations of EVERY child...£480 covers FULL care for one child (including training, psychological support and extra-curricular activities).
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor Mike and Doug: Project Peru will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
