Gwalior Childrens' Hospital Charity is working to help and provide for poor, needy, destitute, disabled and underprivileged esp. children, women and old, the most vulnerable of Gwalior and Chambal region through Gwalior Hospital for Children and Women, Ophthalmic Centre, General Hospital, Rural health centres and Gwalior mobile hospital to provide a wide range of specialised medical care and health educational services in Gwalior and Chambal region, its slums, rural and remote areas. In addition GCHC supports children in existing schools and Orphanages as well runs a School for special needs and is building an Orphanage- Snehalaya to accommodate 200 of disabled and destitute children, details on http://www.helpchildrenofindia.org.uk

My story

... I am trying to raise a good sum of money for the Snehalaya Orphanage in Gwalior (Central/Northern India) where I worked with my sister Sophie in June 2008. The orphanage is run by the Gwalior Children's Hospital, a registered UK charity, and provides a better life for 58 girls, boys, women and men, some with severe disabilities.

I am leaving with three friends on 1st April 2009 to cycle from Tunbridge Wells to Paris, in-time to start the Paris Marathon on 5th April: 150 mile cycle, then 26.2 mile run.

I believe in this charity a lot, and have seen what a small sum of money in UK terms can provide for these children.

This is how the money will be spent: Projects that are being discussed at the moment are a 100 person girls school for the local village community, functioning agricultural project with raised vegetable beds for the Cerebral Palsy kids to get involved, a hydro-therapy pool, and the basic day-to-day up keep of the charity, orphanage and hospital.

If you can't spare any money, don't worry. Talk about this charity when you can and about how it is helping. Spread the word everywhere!
