The Sheffield Fans Derby was originally a one off game in early 2008 to support the charity Sport Relief.

It was played between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday fans, hence the name "Sheffield Fans Derby". The players were sponsored to play in the 90-minute game and the money went to the chosen charity. It proved so successful it has developed into a twice a year event. Each game supports a different charity and you can see details of these on our charities pages on the website www.sheffieldfansderby.co.uk

Sheffield Fans Derby and the fans teams are affiliated to the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Football Association (SHCFA). This ensures the games are approved by the FA with relevant insurance in place and qualified match officials can officiate at the games.
