We have signed up to the 'Trek the Inca Trail' challenge - which means we have a substantial fundraising target to reach - apart from spending time in the gym every day to ensure we will survive the strenuous climb. We will be walking between 8 and 12 hours a day and climb to a hight of 4200m, with high altitude sickness to look forward to :)
We are trying to do a challenging walk most weekends and are using www.walkingworld.com for finding the walks - Chris and Dave who run this site are sponsoring us by lending us some of the specialist walking and high altitude camping gear we will need.
Last weekend we climbed Mount Snowdon with the Indian Community Association of Bracknell.
Shabnam has done a great job sofar getting us 90% to our target by donating all of the proceeds of the handicrafts she imports from Laos and Thailand to the charity. You can see the results below ...
We are donating the handicrafts themselves to Music Makers, to make sure that all of the proceeds go to the charity and by doing so we cover the cost of the trip.
We are running a number of fundraising events to try and reach our target. Shabnam's 'pamper evenng' was a success and an evening with a good atmosphere and the many Laides who Latte meetings have been a major contributor to the target.
