UPDATE!!!
Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for all you're support. It is really appreciated by all of the team and everyone the charity works with.
We successfully completed the rally over the August Bank Holiday, without a hitch :-) We then continued on to Barcelona (where Charlotte flew back), Milan (where Lara attended a wedding), and finally back to the UK (to deliver Luke home). In total the trip was over 5000 miles!
We hope to do the Sucata Split in the not too distant future, so watch this space!
Thanks again,
Charlotte, Lara and Luke
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
We have decided to do the Sucata Run this year, a banger (less than £250) car rally from France to Portugal, in order to raise money for Gemin-i.org. This is a really great charity that specialises in developing innovative web based solutions to improve education in developing and developed worlds. They work to bridge cultural, religious and digital divides between disparate people around the world. The next project they are working on is to raise awareness and educate children about the fight against malaria.
About 3.3 billion people - half of the world's population - are at risk of malaria. Every year, this leads to about 250 million malaria cases and nearly one million deaths. People living in the poorest countries are the most vulnerable.
Malaria is especially a serious problem in Africa, where one in every five (20%) childhood deaths is due to the effects of the disease. An African child has on average between 1.6 and 5.4 episodes of malaria fever each year. And every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Gemin-i.org gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now if you can. Any amount, no matter how small, or how big is greatly appreciated! We need to raise £1000 as a team. This money will all go to charity, and we will cover all expenses incurred (e.g. car, petrol) ourselves.
Thank you for anything you can contribute :-)
