I am currently training to become a Street Pastor in Portsmouth.  Street Pastors are out on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 til 3am helping to make the city centre a kinder and safer place.  We are there to help people that may find themselves in vulnerable situations.  Although we are volunteers and give our time free, there are costs involved in our training (which is done over a 12 week period), purchasing uniforms and the ongoing costs of maintaining the service that Street Pastors provide.

As a mother I'm concerned about the current drinking culture and how it impacts the lives of young people in Portsmouth.  My children are both 'grown and flown', I hope they know how to look after themselves. 

Now I hope to be able to help other peoples' children enjoy their Friday and Saturday nights in Portsmouth safely - so that they can return to enjoy next Friday and Saturday!
